Beware Of Accepting Tips

It Is Unfortunate
It is unfortunate that today many people accept tips (small amount of money given for services rendered). The tips are not part of the official payment, salaries or wages. A person is free to accept tips. But it is not acceptable to expect tips from people when you render services to them. As a child of God, and a true devotee, you should render all services without expecting rewards, thanks, praises, persuasion or force.
Two rewards are possible for every service rendered. One, is the earthly reward like tips. The other is heavenly reward from God. The first is temporary, while the later is everlasting. Besides, rewards from fellow men do not in any way compare with rewards from God. When you are ready to return to heaven, you must be ready to give up all selfish desires and actions. Jesus said it clearly, when He said that you must deny yourself, carry your cross and follow Him. To deny oneself means to render selfless services, by attending to the needs of others. To carry your cross means to seek, find, know and abide by the truth. To follow Jesus means to hear and obey His teachings, to emulate Him, to set your heart after heavenly life that is everlasting.
On the roads, you find police men and other service officers insisting on getting tips from the people they meet or attend to. Indeed, they have their rewards by so doing, and God has no other rewards for them. So, why not forgo earthly riches, which perishes, for heavenly treasures, which last forever. Likewise, many workers in the offices collect fees or payments more than they are officially permitted to collect. Some charge money to sign documents, to connect people, etc. Such people receive their rewards here on earth. God has no other rewards for them. Many office workers turn themselves into agents in order to get money from people, instead of happily rendering their official duties for which they are duly paid. Indeed, they have their rewards here on earth. John the Baptist said it, rightly,
“2 Then tax collectors also came to be baptized, and said to him, "Teacher, what shall we do?"
13 And he said to them, "Collect no more than what is appointed for you.”
14 Likewise the soldiers asked him, saying, "And what shall we do?"
So he said to them, "Do not intimidate anyone or accuse falsely, and be content with your wages."
